My new flat has its own teeny tiny courtyard.  It isn’t much but having had the run of a huge garden in the house I shared with two friends in Chichester, it is nice to have at least a little patch of outside space!  On Friday I finally got round to getting a table and chairs set which is perfect for leisurely sunny breakfasts and afternoon coffees. I’m slowly building up the collection of pots and plants, moving towards a little haven of green that I can retreat to.

My favourite moment…
Thursday evening I headed over to see my beautiful god-daughter and her twin sister. They are 17 months old and at such a hugely fun stage. Infectious giggles and gorgeous first words – just such a lovely bit of soul food.  Their wonderful mother is an awesome, inspiring woman who I adore and love spending time with. She has such wisdom and I am so blessed to have her, and her girls, in my life!

This week sounded like…

Years ago I saw Raul Midón support Jason Mraz live at Shepherd’s Bush.  I was instantly captivated by his style of playing the guitar, his folky soulful sound and the catchy lyrics.  This track is years old now but still as much fun as it was then. I’ve been playing his back catalogue recently and it’s still brilliant.  Take a look if you haven’t already discovered him!

This week tasted like…
Heuvos Rancheros!  My boyfriend had a big night out with the boys last night and so I pre-empted his need for a hangover cure and stocked up with the bits to do brunch this morning. I’ll be blogging the recipe this week, it’s a good ‘un.

This week I spotted…

Last Sunday evening I ended up at a Gin Festival in a quite impromptu trip, but it was fun! I’m a big fan of a cold G&T so when I was scanning Etsy for present ideas and spotted this…I thought it looked very cute and wondered whether it actually tasted as good as the real thing?!

I learned all about…
The manifestos of the Labour leadership candidates, I’m a member of the Labour party so can vote for the new leader. I’m still undecided so spent a bit of time trying to understand their manifestos a bit better. I’m still not sure….!

Next week will be…
When I begin to cycle to work as my brand new shiny bike should be available for pick-up tomorrow.  Very excited…keep your eyes on instagram – I’m sure the bike will make an appearance!  Also have a new double wardrobe being delivered so I can finally get my clothes unpacked.
