The week that was…

On Friday morning I found a big box of roses on my doorstep, a treat for any girl but these were so full of emotion for me! My boyfriend is a submariner in the Royal Navy and is currently away on patrol. This means he is about 60m underwater somewhere in the world, we have no way of communicating other than the FamilyGram I am able to send once a week.  This is a 60 word message that I pass by email to the Submarine’s support crew, it then gets read by 4 or 5 people including his Commanding Officer before being passed to him.  He can’t send any reply nor get any message to me whilst he’s away.  So having a delivery of flowers arrive from him means he was thoughtful enough to pre-order them before he went away so that they would arrive at just the right time.  I miss him hugely and can’t wait for him to come home (I don’t know when this will be!!).  Aren’t the roses beautiful?!

My favourite moment…

This afternoon my good friend and I walked across the fields from her house into the centre of Winchester.  It was a beautiful, crisp Autumn afternoon.  We headed straight into the Cathedral close where the Harvest Festival was in full swing before going to the Harvest Evensong at the Cathedral.  It was a peaceful afternoon with Zoë and her boyfriend Rich joined us after the service (he sings in the Choir at the Cathedral). We were pleased to be able to pause and appreciate the Autumn colours as well as enjoy catching up!

This week sounded like…

Weeks ago, before Phil left, we danced around the kitchen to what I’m certain was a Taylor Swift/Lean on Me acoustic mashup that came on shuffle on Spotify, however I haven’t been able to find it since despite extensive googling!  However, in my search, I did come across this and it’s not a bad replacement!

This week tasted like…

Ham hock – slight obsession with ham hock salads this week.  Easy to get together when on the road with work too!

This week I spotted…

There is a brilliant art and book shop under the Kings Gate in Winchester.  It has a huge variety of prints and rediscovered maps, travel posters and advertisements.  I picked up several postcards of some of my favourites – including this one, I think I’ll be ordering the full size one too…I have just the frame!

I learned all about…

…the lobby for a living wage for British farmers – which has resulted in a post idea.  Oh and I’ve been working on scheduling blog posts so that in my busy weeks I can still push content out!

Next week will be…

A chance to work on a few design commissions as well as get my gallery wall finally finished.

What does your week look like?
